Eiger Flip
Eiger Flip
Colored Pencil on Paper
53 x 54
2011

The aim of this drawing was to subvert the viewer’s trust in representation by using the conventions of the photograph and representational naturalism. The source image for the piece was manipulated using Photoshop to physically flip the face of the Eiger, thus creating two different light sources: one for the massif and one for the face of the mountain. Through careful consideration and handling of the entirety of the manipulated source photograph, a believable merging the two realities has been achieved.
